What the free QRLynx Starter plan includes
QRLynx Starter is free forever with no credit card required. It includes 3 active dynamic QR codes, unlimited static QR codes, unlimited scans, 3 months of analytics, AI scan summaries, and watermark-free raster downloads.
Genuinely free, not a trial
The Starter plan is free forever: no credit card, no time limit, no countdown. 3 dynamic QR codes, unlimited static QR codes, unlimited scans, 3 months of analytics, and AI scan summaries are included.
No watermarks on downloads
Registered Starter users can download clean PNG, JPG, WebP, and PNG HD files. SVG and PDF vector downloads start on Starter+. QRLynx does not stamp its branding on registered-user downloads.
Unlimited scans on every plan
Every plan includes unlimited scans with no plan-based scan cap or overage fee. Traffic can still be restricted to block abuse or malicious activity.
Clear static and dynamic behavior
Static QR patterns do not expire because their final data is encoded directly. Dynamic short links remain active while they fit within the account limit. Overflow after a downgrade is quota-paused rather than deleted, and the owner chooses which eligible code to restore when capacity is available.
Real-time analytics, free
Starter includes 3 months of summary analytics, 90 days of detailed scan records, real-time scan counts, time patterns, and basic AI summaries. Country detail unlocks on Pro. City, device, operating-system, and browser detail arrive on Business.
Privacy controls
QRLynx supports GDPR and CCPA compliance workflows with privacy controls, consent screens, secure data handling, and access controls.
Designer-grade customization on the free plan
QRLynx supports six body patterns, independent corner styles, colors, gradients, transparent backgrounds, templates, frames, and a live readability score. Registered Starter users can also upload a logo.
Apple Wallet + Google Wallet, free on every plan
Digital Business Card QR codes include save actions for Apple Wallet (.pkpass) and Google Wallet (Generic Pass) on every plan, including Starter.
Static vs dynamic QR codes: what is the difference?
A static QR code encodes the destination directly into the printed pattern, so once printed the destination is permanent. A dynamic QR code encodes a managed short redirect URL; the printed pattern stays the same, but the destination can be updated. QRLynx supports both: static codes are unlimited and free, and Starter includes 3 active dynamic codes.
| Feature | Static QR | Dynamic QR |
|---|---|---|
| Edit destination after printing | No | Yes |
| Track scans | No | Yes, 90 days of detailed records |
| Password-protect content | No | Yes (Pro+) |
| Expire on date / scan count | No | Yes (Pro+) |
| Smart redirect by device/location | No | Yes (Pro+) |
| Free tier limit | Unlimited | 3 codes |
| Scan limit | Unlimited | Unlimited |
| Affected by plan capacity | No | Yes |
Use static for permanent data that will never change (a finished business card, a fixed Bitcoin address, a song link). Use dynamic for anything you might want to update: packaging URLs, campaign links, restaurant menus, real estate listings, event check-ins.
61 QR code types: what can you encode?

How to create a QR code with QRLynx
No account is required to create and download a static QR code. To use dynamic codes, real-time analytics, or AI Insights, sign up free at qrlynx.com, no credit card needed.
- 01
Pick a QR code type
Choose from 61 types: URL, WiFi, vCard, PDF, restaurant menu, business card, social media, payment, and more. The form changes to match the type.
- 02
Fill in the destination
Paste a URL, drop a PDF, type a WiFi password, or fill the relevant fields for your chosen type. The QR pattern updates live as you type.
- 03
Customize the design (optional)
Set foreground and background colors, use a gradient, choose corner styles, and add a frame with a clear call to action. A live readability score estimates design risks. Registered Starter users can also upload a logo.
- 04
Download: clean, no watermark
Registered Starter users can download PNG, JPG, WebP, and PNG HD files without a watermark. SVG and PDF vector downloads start on Starter+.
- 05
Track and edit (dynamic codes only)
For dynamic codes, log into the dashboard to review scan counts and time patterns, then update an eligible destination without reprinting. Starter includes AI scan summaries, Pro adds country analytics, and Business adds city, device, operating-system, and browser detail.
QR codes for every use case
QRLynx supports QR workflows for restaurants, retailers, real estate teams, events, education, healthcare, marketers, and individuals. Use dynamic mode on an eligible type when its destination may need to change after printing.

Free tools included with QRLynx
Beyond QR generation, QRLynx ships with six standalone tools, all free, no account required.
QR Code Scanner
Browser camera and image scanner for QR codes, with no separate app installation required.
UTM Builder
Build campaign URLs with source, medium, campaign, term, and content parameters. Pair one with a QRLynx dynamic code to separate QR scan activity from destination analytics.
Image Compressor
Client-side optimization for JPEG, PNG, and WebP. Adjust quality and dimensions; nothing leaves your browser.
Scan to PDF
Document scanner with manual pan, crop, zoom, rotation, page ordering, and multi-page PDF export.
QR Code Size Calculator
Practical size-planning calculator using scan distance, quiet zone, DPI, error correction, and a 1:10 distance heuristic.
QR Code Readability Checker
Client-side six-section design heuristic with suggestions for improving likely readability. It is not an ISO certification test.
QR code best practices: design, print, test
A QR code is only as good as its scannability and the destination behind it. These are the rules QRLynx bakes into its design tools and recommends for every print job.
- 01
Maintain contrast
Use strong contrast and prefer a dark QR pattern on a light background. Test the final colors on the exact material and at the intended viewing distance.
- 02
Respect the quiet zone
Keep the clear border around the QR code at least four modules wide. Do not crowd it with text, images, or a frame element.
- 03
Size matters
Use the 1:10 size-to-distance rule as a planning heuristic, then test the actual code because data density, material, lighting, camera, and error correction also affect scanning.
- 04
Print high-resolution
Choose an output that suits the printer and final size. Registered Starter users can download PNG HD without a watermark. Use SVG for large-format scaling when you have Starter+ or higher.
- 05
Test before printing
Test the final code with several phone cameras before committing to print. Use the QRLynx Readability Checker as a design heuristic, then verify the exact exported file at its intended size, material, distance, and lighting.
- 06
Use dynamic codes for anything you might change
If the destination may change after printing, use dynamic mode on an eligible QR type. Use static mode when the final payload should remain fixed.
- 07
Add a clear call-to-action
A QR code without context gets ignored. The frame around the code should say what the user gets: "Scan to see the menu," "Scan for WiFi," "Scan to download." QRLynx ships with built-in CTA frames.
- 08
Track everything
Use separate dynamic codes when you need to compare placements. Review the scan dimensions available to the plan, and measure downstream outcomes separately.
Are QR codes safe? Security at QRLynx
A QR code is just a URL in pattern form, so the safety question is really about the destination. QRLynx hardens both the redirect layer and the destination validation.
Secure redirect transport
QRLynx serves its managed redirect routes over HTTPS and applies transport security headers on the public application.
Privacy and access controls
QRLynx supports GDPR and CCPA compliance workflows with privacy controls, consent screens, secure data handling, and access controls.
Multi-layer URL validation
Saved URL-based codes use risk scoring plus multiple threat-intelligence and domain-reputation signals. Confirmed threats are blocked, while uncertain destinations can show a warning page.
Optional consent screens
Eligible plans can show a consent step before protected content opens, including custom owner-written consent text on supported plans.
Dashboard request protections
The QRLynx application uses CSRF checks, a nonce-based Content Security Policy, authentication controls, and rate limits to reduce common web risks.
Published service health
Dynamic QR scans route through a global edge network. QRLynx publishes current service health and response times on its status page, but it does not publish a separate uptime SLA.

QRLynx FAQ
27 of the most common questions about QRLynx, free QR code generation, dynamic codes, analytics, and security.
- 01
Yes. Starter includes 3 active dynamic QR codes, unlimited static QR codes, unlimited scans, 3 months of analytics, basic AI scan summaries, and watermark-free raster downloads. No credit card, time limit, or countdown.
- 02
Paid access continues through the billing period. Static QR codes are unaffected. If the lower plan cannot hold every active dynamic code, overflow is quota-paused rather than deleted. When capacity is available, the owner deliberately chooses which eligible paused code to restore.
- 03
A dynamic QR code encodes a short redirect URL that QRLynx hosts. The printed pattern stays the same, and the owner can update the destination while the code is active and eligible. Static codes encode the destination directly into the pattern, so an already printed static pattern cannot be repointed.
- 04
QRLynx supports both static and dynamic modes. A static QR stores its final payload directly, so an already printed pattern cannot be repointed. An eligible dynamic QR uses a managed short link, so its owner can update the destination without reprinting.
- 05
Owner-facing analytics can include country, city, device class, operating system, browser, referrer, and scan time when the plan includes those dimensions. Scanner IP addresses are used for infrastructure processing such as unique-scan counting, abuse prevention, and platform logs. They are not shown to QR owners, included in scan CSV exports, or used for device fingerprinting. See the current privacy policy for the full statement.
- 06
Yes. You can create, customize, and download supported static QR types without an account. Create a free Starter account to save codes, upload a logo, remove the guest watermark, use dynamic destinations, and view scan analytics.
- 07
QRLynx plans do not impose a plan-based scan cap or overage fee. Traffic can still be restricted to block abuse or malicious activity.
- 08
Registered Starter users can download PNG, JPG, WebP, and PNG HD files without a watermark. SVG and PDF vector downloads start on Starter+.
- 09
61 types, including URL, vCard, WiFi, PDF, email, SMS, phone, event, location, app store, restaurant menu, catalog, plain text, social media, payment, and business-listing types.
- 10
Yes. Custom logo upload is included on the free Starter plan, along with full color control, 6 body patterns, independent corner-square and inner-dot styles, transparent backgrounds, and pre-built design templates. Starter+ ($7/mo) adds folders, SVG/PDF vector exports, and a larger 10 MB PDF upload cap (vs 5 MB on Starter).
- 11
Dynamic QR scans route through a global edge network for fast, reliable redirects worldwide. QRLynx publishes current service health and response times on its status page, but it does not publish a separate uptime SLA.
- 12
Real-time scan counts and time-of-day patterns are included on every plan, with basic AI scan summaries. Country detail begins on Pro. City, device type, operating system, and browser detail begin on Business. Referrer is available in the Business CSV export rather than as a universal dashboard metric.
- 13
Detailed scan records cover 90 days on every plan. The broader analytics window is 3 months on Starter, 1 year on Starter+, 2 years on Pro, 3 years on Business, and unlimited on Enterprise. Business and Enterprise can export analytics.
- 14
Yes. Pro includes dynamic bulk creation for 100 codes per batch and 5 batches per month. Business supports 250 codes per batch and 10 batches per month. Enterprise supports 1,000 codes per batch with no monthly batch limit.
- 15
Yes. Business plan includes 10-member team workspaces with role-based access (owner / admin / editor / viewer). Enterprise expands this to 100 members with white-label custom domains, retargeting pixels, and dedicated support.
- 16
Yes, on Pro and above. Scanners are required to enter a password before being redirected to the destination. Useful for age-gated content, internal documents, or paid resources.
- 17
Yes, on Pro and above. Expire rules support date-based, scan-count-based, or both. Codes can also be scheduled: turn them on at a specific time, off at another, no manual intervention needed.
- 18
Yes, on Pro and above. Smart Rules can route an eligible dynamic QR by device operating system, country, or a UTC time window. The saved rule order decides which matching destination is used.
- 19
Business and Enterprise include lead capture forms, CSV export, email scan summaries, and public API access. Enterprise can configure supported Meta Pixel, Google Tag Manager, and GA4 identifiers. These features do not imply a built-in CRM integration.
- 20
Yes, on Business and Enterprise. Public REST API v1 supports creating dynamic URL QR codes, reading code details and scan totals, updating names and destinations, and rendering SVG through scoped, revocable keys.
- 21
A QR code can open an unsafe destination, so scanners should still check what they are opening. QRLynx applies risk scoring, threat-intelligence signals, domain-reputation checks, application security, and abuse controls to saved URL-based codes.
- 22
QRLynx does not publish a shutdown-notice or migration guarantee. Static QR codes keep their directly encoded payload. Dynamic QR codes depend on QRLynx redirect infrastructure, so check the public status page and contact support when continuity evidence is important for a long-lived print project.
- 23
Yes. The WiFi QR type creates a standard WiFi payload containing the network name, security type, and password. Compatible scanner apps and phone cameras decide how that payload is handled.
- 24
Yes. Two options: a static vCard QR (the contact card is encoded directly into the pattern, works offline, never changes) or a Digital Business Card (a hosted, editable landing page with Apple Wallet and Google Wallet integration via PKCS#7 / RS256-signed JWT).
- 25
Yes. Bitcoin, Ethereum, PayPal, UPI, Pix, and Venmo are supported QR types. The code encodes the selected payment destination or address, while the scanner device decides which compatible app or browser handles it.
- 26
Eligible Enterprise dynamic links can use an approved owner domain instead of a QRLynx redirect-domain address. Domain verification and setup are required.
