QRLynx

Free QR Code Generator with Real-Time Analytics

Dynamic QR codes that never expire. 49 code types, AI insights, no watermarks, no scan caps. Free forever for five dynamic codes — paid plans start at $7/mo.

What is QRLynx?

QRLynx is a free dynamic QR code generator built and operated by Jorbox LLC, an independent product company in Albuquerque, New Mexico. It supports 49 QR code types — including Digital Business Cards that save to Apple Wallet (.pkpass) and Google Wallet on every plan — real-time scan analytics, AI-powered insights, and codes that never expire even after a paid plan is canceled. Free downloads are watermark-free, scans are unlimited on every plan, and dynamic codes can be edited after printing. Not to be confused with QRLynk (a-qr.link, an unrelated NFC hardware brand) or QRLinks (qrlinks.us). Wikidata entity: Q138655399.

Free, genuinely

Why QRLynx is the best free QR code generator

Most "free" QR code generators have a catch — watermarked downloads, scan caps, expiring codes, or paywalled analytics. QRLynx removes all four. The free Starter plan is genuinely free forever, with no credit card required, and includes everything most small businesses ever need.

Genuinely free, not a trial

The Starter plan is free forever — no credit card, no time limit, no countdown. Five dynamic QR codes, unlimited static QR codes, unlimited scans, 90-day analytics, and AI-generated insights are included on the free tier.

No watermarks on downloads

Every export — PNG up to 4096×4096, SVG vector, PDF — is downloaded clean. No "Made with QRLynx" branding stamped onto your codes, even on the free plan.

Unlimited scans on every plan

Scan volume is never throttled. A QR code on a free plan handles a million scans the same way a code on Enterprise does. No tier locks the number of times your customers can scan.

Codes that never expire

Dynamic QR codes keep redirecting indefinitely — even if you cancel a paid subscription. Codes beyond the free-plan limit get paused but are never deleted; reactivate them later by upgrading.

Real-time analytics, free

The free tier includes 90-day scan history, geographic distribution (city/country), device type, operating system, browser, referrer, and time-of-day patterns. AI Insights summarizes the data into actionable observations.

No personally identifiable scanner data

QRLynx never captures personally identifiable information about people who scan your codes. Analytics are aggregate-only, GDPR-friendly by design.

Designer-grade customization on the free plan

6 body patterns, independently styled corner squares and inner-dot eyes, full color control (foreground, background, eyes), transparent backgrounds, and pre-built design templates — all available without creating an account, and with logo upload included on Starter free.

Apple Wallet + Google Wallet — free on every plan

Digital Business Card QR codes include one-tap save to Apple Wallet (.pkpass) and Google Wallet (Generic Pass) on every plan, including Starter free. Most competitors lock wallet pass generation behind paid tiers or charge extra per pass.

Educational

Static vs dynamic QR codes — what is the difference?

A static QR code encodes the destination directly into the printed pattern — once printed, the destination is permanent. A dynamic QR code encodes a short redirect URL we host; the printed pattern stays the same, but the destination it points to can be updated anytime. QRLynx supports both — static codes are unlimited and free, dynamic codes start at five on the free plan.

Use static for permanent data that will never change (a finished business card, a fixed Bitcoin address, a song link). Use dynamic for anything you might want to update — packaging URLs, campaign links, restaurant menus, real estate listings, event check-ins.

In five steps

How to create a QR code in 30 seconds

No account is required to create and download a static QR code. To use dynamic codes, real-time analytics, or AI Insights, sign up free at qrlynx.com — no credit card needed.

  1. 01

    Pick a QR code type

Choose from 49 types — URL, WiFi, vCard, PDF, restaurant menu, business card, social media, payment, and more. The form changes to match the type.

  2. 02

    Fill in the destination

Paste a URL, drop a PDF, type a WiFi password, or fill the relevant fields for your chosen type. The QR pattern updates live as you type.

  3. 03

    Customize the design (optional)

Add a logo, set foreground and background colors (gradients supported), choose corner styles, add a frame with a call-to-action like "Scan me." A live readability score warns you if a color choice would hurt scannability.

  4. 04

    Download — clean, no watermark

Export as PNG up to 4096×4096 pixels, SVG (vector, scales infinitely for print), or PDF. All formats are unbranded on every plan including free.

  5. 05

Track and edit (dynamic codes only)

For dynamic codes, log into the dashboard to see real-time scan analytics — country, device, OS, time of day. Update the destination URL anytime; printed codes reflect the change in seconds. AI Insights summarize what changed week-over-week.

Get them right

QR code best practices — design, print, test

A QR code is only as good as its scannability and the destination behind it. These are the rules QRLynx bakes into its design tools and recommends for every print job.

  1. 01

    Maintain contrast

The QR pattern must be darker than its background, with at least a 60% luminance ratio. Light-on-dark works (inverted) but only with high-end scanners; default to dark-on-light for safety.

  2. 02

    Respect the quiet zone

The white border around the code (the "quiet zone") must be at least four modules wide. Crowding it with text or images breaks scannability. QRLynx auto-protects the quiet zone when you add a logo.

  3. 03

    Size matters

A QR code should be roughly 1/10 the distance between scanner and code. A code scanned from arm's length (30 cm) needs to be 3 cm wide minimum; a code on a billboard read from 20 m needs to be 2 m wide.

  4. 04

    Print high-resolution

Use 300 DPI or higher for print. Use SVG when scaling for posters or billboards. The QRLynx export gives you both PNG and SVG without watermarks.

  5. 05

    Test before printing

Always test the code with at least three phone cameras (one iOS, one Android, one mid-range) before committing to print. Use the QRLynx Readability Checker for an objective score.

  6. 06

Use dynamic codes for anything you might change

If there is any chance the destination URL will change, use a dynamic code. The cost of reprinting a static QR is almost always higher than the cost of a dynamic plan.

  7. 07

    Add a clear call-to-action

A QR code without context gets ignored. The frame around the code should say what the user gets — "Scan to see the menu," "Scan for WiFi," "Scan to download." QRLynx ships with built-in CTA frames.

  8. 08

    Track everything

Use a dynamic code with analytics for any code that goes to print. Even if you do not change the destination, knowing scan volume by region and device pays back the dynamic-plan cost in the first campaign.

Trust

Are QR codes safe? Security at QRLynx

A QR code is just a URL in pattern form — the safety question is really about the destination. QRLynx hardens both the redirect layer and the destination validation.

TLS 1.3 in transit

Every redirect goes over TLS 1.3, the latest transport-layer encryption standard. No code-to-destination hop is ever in the clear.

AES-256 at rest

Stored codes, campaigns, and analytics data are encrypted at rest with AES-256, the U.S. NIST-approved standard for top-secret data.

Multi-layer URL validation

Every dynamic destination is checked through three layers — lexical analysis (suspicious patterns), DNS reputation (known-bad domains), and the Google Web Risk API (live phishing/malware list). Malicious destinations are rejected before the code can be saved.

No tracking of scanners

QRLynx never captures personally identifiable information about people who scan your codes — no IP-to-identity linking, no fingerprinting beyond aggregate device class. GDPR consent screens are available for EU campaigns.

CSRF + nonce-based CSP

The dashboard is protected by per-request CSRF tokens and a nonce-based Content Security Policy. Cross-site scripting cannot exfiltrate dashboard data.

Edge-deployed redirects, no cold starts

Redirects run on Cloudflare's global edge network for fast, reliable scans worldwide. There is no central origin to attack — each region serves locally.

How it stacks up

QRLynx vs. other QR code generators

How QRLynx compares to the most-searched alternatives. The short version: most "free" generators watermark, cap, or expire. QRLynx does none of those.

QRLynx vs.
Bitly
URL shortener that adds QR codes

Bitly only generates URL QR codes. QRLynx supports 49 types. Bitly's free QR analytics are limited; QRLynx free analytics are unlimited with no scan caps. Bitly's codes expire when you cancel; QRLynx codes never expire.

QRLynx vs.
QR Code Monkey
Free static QR generator

QR Code Monkey only does static codes — no analytics, no editing after print. QRLynx gives you 5 dynamic codes free with full analytics, AI Insights, and post-print editing.

QRLynx vs.
Beaconstac
Enterprise QR + landing page platform

Beaconstac starts at $5/mo with limited free tier. QRLynx is genuinely free for 5 dynamic codes plus unlimited static, and includes AI Insights at every paid tier.

QRLynx vs.
QR Tiger
Mid-market QR generator

QR Tiger's free tier limits scans and watermarks downloads. QRLynx has unlimited free scans on every tier and downloads are watermark-free, including the free plan.

QRLynx vs.
Hovercode / Uniqode / Flowcode
Branded-design QR platforms

These platforms emphasize aesthetic customization but are typically $25-50/mo entry. QRLynx matches their customization (logo, colors, gradients, frames, corners) and adds smart redirects, password protection, and a 60-90 day free analytics window at $7-14/mo.

Frequently asked

QRLynx FAQ

27 of the most common questions about QRLynx, free QR code generation, dynamic codes, analytics, and security.

01

Is QRLynx really free?

Yes. The Starter plan gives you five dynamic QR codes, unlimited static QR codes, unlimited scans, 90-day analytics, AI Insights, and watermark-free downloads — no credit card, no time limit, no countdown.

02

Will my QR codes still work if I cancel?

Yes. QRLynx codes never expire, even after subscription cancellation. Dynamic codes beyond your remaining plan limit will be paused but never deleted — re-upgrading reactivates them.

03

What is a dynamic QR code?

A dynamic QR code encodes a short redirect URL that QRLynx hosts. The printed pattern stays the same, but the destination URL it points to can be edited anytime — even years after the code was printed. Static codes encode the destination directly into the pattern, so once printed they are permanent.

04

How is QRLynx different from a static QR generator?

Static-only generators encode the destination directly into the printed pattern. Once printed, the destination is permanent — there is no way to update it without reprinting. QRLynx default codes are dynamic; you can edit the destination anytime, and the same printed code reflects the change immediately.

05

Does QRLynx track personal data from people scanning my codes?

No. QRLynx captures aggregate analytics — country, city, device, operating system, browser, and time of scan — but never personally identifiable information about scanners. There is no IP-to-identity linking, no fingerprinting beyond device class.

06

Can I use QRLynx without an account?

Yes. You can customize and download static QR codes (any of the 49 types) without creating an account. To use dynamic codes, real-time analytics, or AI Insights, sign up free at qrlynx.com.

07

Are there any scan limits on QRLynx codes?

No. Scans are unlimited on every plan, including the free Starter plan. A code on the free tier handles a million scans the same way a code on Enterprise does.

08

Do QRLynx free downloads have a watermark?

No. Every export — PNG up to 4096×4096, SVG vector, PDF — is downloaded clean, with no "Made with QRLynx" branding or watermark. This is true on the free Starter plan too.

09

How many QR code types does QRLynx support?

49 types — including URL, vCard, WiFi, PDF, email, SMS, phone, event, location, app store, restaurant menu, catalog, plain text, every major social media platform, multiple cryptocurrency and fiat payment types, and business listings (Google Business, Maps, Eventbrite, Amazon, Etsy, Booking.com).

10

Can I add a logo to my QR code?

Yes — custom logo upload is included on the free Starter plan, along with full color control, 6 body patterns, independent corner-square and inner-dot styles, transparent backgrounds, and pre-built design templates. Starter+ ($7/mo) adds folders, SVG/PDF vector exports, and a larger 10 MB PDF upload cap (vs 5 MB on Starter).

11

How fast are QRLynx redirects?

Fast — typically tens of milliseconds worldwide. Redirects run on Cloudflare's global edge network, so a scan in Tokyo hits a nearby edge node, a scan in São Paulo hits a nearby edge node, and so on. There is no central origin in the redirect path.

12

What analytics does QRLynx track?

Real-time scan count, geographic location (country and city), device type (mobile/desktop/tablet), operating system, browser, referrer source, and time-of-day patterns. AI Insights then summarizes these into plain-English observations.

13

How long does QRLynx keep my analytics data?

90 days on every plan, including the free Starter tier. Pro and above unlock full AI insight details and anomaly alerts; Business and Enterprise add CSV export to keep historical data indefinitely.

14

Can I generate QR codes in bulk?

Yes. Bulk generation via CSV upload is available on Business (250 codes per batch) and Enterprise (1,000 codes per batch). Each row in the CSV produces a separate QR code with its own destination and analytics.

15

Does QRLynx support team collaboration?

Yes. Business plan includes 10-member team workspaces with role-based access (owner / admin / editor / viewer). Enterprise expands this to 100 members with white-label custom domains, retargeting pixels, and dedicated support.

16

Can I password-protect a QR code?

Yes, on Pro and above. Scanners are required to enter a password before being redirected to the destination. Useful for age-gated content, internal documents, or paid resources.

17

Can I make a QR code expire on a date or after N scans?

Yes, on Pro and above. Expire rules support date-based, scan-count-based, or both. Codes can also be scheduled — turn them on at a specific time, off at another, no manual intervention needed.

18

Does QRLynx support smart redirects?

Yes, on Pro and above. A single QR code can route scanners to different destinations based on device (iOS / Android / desktop), country, region, time of day, day of week, or browser language. Useful for app-download codes (iOS App Store vs. Google Play) and for region-locked content.

19

Can I integrate QRLynx with my CRM or marketing stack?

Yes. Lead capture forms (Business+) collect contact information before showing the destination, with CSV export and email summary reports. Retargeting pixels (Enterprise) let you fire Facebook Pixel, Google Ads, and custom pixel events on scan, integrating directly with your existing ad platforms.

20

Is the QRLynx API available?

Yes, on Enterprise. The API supports programmatic code creation, analytics retrieval, bulk operations, and webhook events on scan. Use cases include automated print pipelines, CRM integration, and custom dashboards.

21

Are QR codes safe?

A QR code is just a URL in pattern form — safety depends on the destination. QRLynx hardens both layers: redirects run over TLS 1.3, data is stored encrypted with AES-256, and every dynamic destination is validated through lexical, DNS-reputation, and Google Web Risk API checks before being saved. Malicious destinations are rejected.

22

What happens to my QR codes if QRLynx shuts down?

QRLynx is built and operated by Jorbox LLC, which has been independently profitable since 2012. There is no acquirer, no exit timeline, and no investor pressure to wind down. If a shutdown ever became necessary we would publish 12 months' notice and provide migration tools.

23

Can I use QRLynx for a Wi-Fi QR code?

Yes. The WiFi QR type encodes the network name (SSID), encryption type (WPA / WPA2 / WEP / None), and password. Scanners auto-connect on phones running iOS 11+ and Android 10+ — no typing the password.

24

Can QRLynx generate a QR code for a vCard or business card?

Yes. Two options: a static vCard QR (the contact card is encoded directly into the pattern, works offline, never changes) or a Digital Business Card (a hosted, editable landing page with Apple Wallet and Google Wallet integration via PKCS#7 / RS256-signed JWT).

25

Can I use QRLynx for a payment QR code?

Yes. Bitcoin, Ethereum, PayPal, UPI (India), PIX (Brazil), and Venmo are supported as native QR types. Customers scan and the destination opens directly in the appropriate wallet or payment app.

26

Can I use my own domain instead of qrlynx.com for redirects?

Yes, on Enterprise. White-label custom domain redirects let you use your own short domain (like links.yourbrand.com) instead of r.qrlynx.com, so customers see your brand even when scanning the code.

27

Who built QRLynx?

QRLynx is built and operated in-house by Jorbox LLC, an independent product company in Albuquerque, New Mexico, founded in 2012 by Ahmad Tayyem. The team that ships the code also handles support — there is no outsourced ops team.
